Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has hailed Ghana wing-half Jeffrey Schlupp and the rest of the Foxes squad for showing a strong character in their 2-1 come-from-behind win against Tottenham Hotspur in the English FA Cup on Saturday.

An Andros Townsend penalty in a first half that saw the Foxes own penalty appeals waved away ensured they went into half-time trailing Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs, but a stirring comeback changed things late in the second half.

After Townsend's goal, Schlupp showed how he could alter the fate of the clash at the White Hart Lane by setting up Leo Ulloa. Ulloa sparked the fight back when he controlled Schlupp’s shot and slotted into the corner with eight minutes remaining, before the winger diverted Danny Simpson’s cross past Michel Vorm to book City spot in Monday night’s fifth round draw.

Speaking exclusively to Foxes Player after the fourth round win, Pearson reflected: “It was a very good cup tie. Either side could have won it but we’re delighted to have been able to win the game.

“It was a tough game for us and they (Tottenham Hotspur) are a good side. You can see with the number of changes that they made today the amount of quality they had at their disposal. This is a great stadium to come to and I think the players have enjoyed being very competitive here today.

“As I said, I think having gone a goal down we had every right to feel aggrieved at the situation given the chances that we created throughout the game.

Schlupp has now scored four goals for Leicester City from the flanks in all competitions this season.
