Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has praised English-born Ghanaian youth attacker Joe Dodoo following his scoring performance for the Foxes in their English League Cup triumph over West Ham United on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old highlighted his precocity by scoring an early-minute opener for the Foxes as they survived a fightback from the Hammers to emerged 2-1 winners and sealed their progress.

Dodoo scored the opener in the sixth minute, backing up his hat-trick on debut at Bury in the previous round and taking his tally in the competition to four goals.

In a performance that saw Black Stars wing-half Jeffrey Schlupp climb off the substitute bench to assist the match-winner scored by Andy King, Dodoo once again kept his name on the lips on the Foxes fans and manager Ranieri had praises for the Ghanaian after the game.

"He was fantastic," said the Italian gaffer. "He’s very smart and he was ready to shoot at goal. I’m very happy with him because he’s a very attentive lad and often I speak with him about his best position, how to attack and how to defend. I’m very happy with him."

Dodoo earned his Premier League debut against AFC Bournemouth in a 1-1 stalemate in late August at the Vitality Stadium.
