Kennedy Ashia scored a controversial second half penalty to hand Liberty a 2-1 win over Medeama in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Striker Theophilus Anobah gave the visitors the lead in the 8th minute from a goal-mouth scramble.

The former AshantiGold forward capitalised on a defensive howler and beat hapless goalkeeper Daniel Agyei in post for the opener.

The Mauves and Yellows commanded the game from the blast of the whistle and never looked back.

Medeama youngster Jacob Apauh emerged as the fans' favourite with some swashbuckling performances at the Sly Tetteh Memorial Park.

Liberty resumed the second half determined to get back into the game.

Ebenezer Assafuah restored parity for the home side, fifteen minutes into the second half before leading scorer Ashia made sure of the points with the second from the spot kick.

Medeama have now been dislodged from the top of the table after seven rounds of matches.
