Liberty Professionals had a narrow escape against Future Stars

Liberty Professionals were made to work to save their Premier League reputation by third-tier side Charity Stars in the Ghana MTN FA Cup on Saturday.

George Lamptey men made a short trip to Darkoman-Bubuashie within Accra to seek progress to the next stage of the competition but were made to work for it.

The host hoarded possession in the early minutes and threatened the Liberty goal area but they failed to turn their dominance into goals.

Liberty used their experience to gradually creep into the game and dully scored the first goal of the game on the half-hour mark through Louis Marfo.

The youngster raced himself into space before playing a beautiful one-two combination with Michael Appiah before poking the return ball home for the opener.

The host, mainly part-timers,  returned from the break with some inspiration and cracked in the equaliser with Frank Abbeyson scoring an intelligent finish.

Stars fought strong and prevented Liberty from claiming the winner within regulation time as the game headed for shoot-outs.

Though the Scientific Soccer Lads missed some of their kicks, they went ahead to emerge victors  with a 4-3 win.

Giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are involved in their action on Sunday afternoon as the Phobians play Gold Stars in Bibiani.
