Liverpool fan group Spirit of Shankly 'recruit' Man United's Jose Mourinho

Published on: 26 September 2017

As unlikely as it may sound, it would appear that Jose Mourinho has become the latest member of the most well-known Liverpool supporters' club.

Indeed, with both squads in Moscow on Champions League duty this week, the United boss bumped into prominent Spirit of Shankly member Stephen Monaghan at a hotel and posed for a photo.

Whether Mourinho knew it or not, the photo was taken while the Portuguese wore a sticker bearing the emblem of the Spirit of Shankly, a silhouetted portrait of the Reds' iconic former manager.

Admittedly, Mourinho looks slightly baffled by the whole encounter, but his United training gear is mostly definitely adorned with an image of Bill Shankly.

What do you know, there really is a first time for everything!

As for the actual football at hand, United are in the Russian capital to take on CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night, while Liverpool are set to square off against neighbours Spartak on Tuesday.
