Liverpool are now in pole position to sign Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, renowned Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported.

The 23-year-old was reportedly the subject of Liverpool interest back in December and that story made its way to England but there have been rumours about a possible move before and since.

He moved to Udinese in 2010 and last season was his breakthrough campaign.

Badu has a contract with the Italian Serie A side until June 2016 and so the club are under no pressure to sell.

But the player would surely be tempted by a move to Anfield and the subsequent pay rise which would come with it.

Badu has more than 40 international caps for Ghana which will make it easy to secure a work permit to play in the English Premier League.
