Liverpool should be helping fans over ticket prices – Redknapp

Harry Redknapp believes that Liverpool should be doing all they can in order to reduce ticket prices.

There has been outrage among the Liverpool supporters after it was revealed that ticket prices for next season at Anfield will cost as much as £77.

In protest against the rising prices, the Reds fans staged a mass walkout from Anfield in the 77th minute during the 2-2 draw against Sunderland on Saturday and it is believed that the supporters are planning further demonstrations during the upcoming weeks.

Former Tottenham and QPR boss Redknapp can sympathise with the fans over such extortionate ticket prices and believes that the club should do more to help the supporters attend games for reasonable amounts.

Redknapp told BT Sport: "That will act as a warning to club owners. This is what Liverpool fans are doing and they don't want that. They'll do something about it, they're not silly. I'm sure others will be looking at that now.

"You can understand the frustration of the fans. The money that's pumped in now through Sky and you have players' wages, managers' wages, coaches' wages — everybody's having a slice of the pie. The fans really should be getting the biggest slice. If there's a bit to give out they should be helping the fans.

"It's an expensive game for people with kids. There are a lot of people out there working all week just to afford taking the family to football."
