Lloyd Sam issues come-and-get me plea to Notts County

Ghanaian winger Lloyd Sam today issued a 'come and get me' plea to Notts County.

The 27-year-old was a big hit at Meadow Lane during a two-month loan with the Magpies from Leeds United at the end of last season, scoring five goals in ten games to help inspire a late surge for the play-offs.

Notts just missed out on the top-six on goal-difference – and now many fans want the Magpies to bring Sam back to the club, now he has been released by Leeds, to help mount another assault on promotion into the Championship.

Boss Keith Curle is a big fan of the ex-Charlton man and had talks with him about deal at the start of the summer.

But Sam says he has not heard from Curle since and has never been offered a contract by Notts.

He is training with beleaguered Portsmouth to stay fit while he is a free agent.

But he has told the Post he would love the Magpies to table him an offer – and has even rung the club's kit man about the vacant No.7 shirt at Meadow Lane.

"A lot of Notts fans have been asking me on Twitter if I'm going to come back," he said.

"I've even been getting a bit of abuse because some of them think I've turned down an offer to come back, but there has not been an offer made.

"They showed some interest at the start of the summer and I spoke to them, but that's it.

"I had a great time last season so if they want to make me an offer, we can take it from there.

"I've already spoken to the kit man and had a joke with him about the No.7 shirt."

Sam has been on a pre-season training camp to Spain with Portsmouth – in exactly the same place where Notts are this week – but Pompey cannot sign any players because they are in administration.
