Local Black Stars contingent leave; Europe-based players to join camp from today

The local contingent of the Black Stars team have left Accra for Washington to begin preparations for the international friendly match against Canada.

The delegation led by Black Stars management committee chairman George Afriyie included the members of the technical staff and the local component of the team.

Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda who was in camp with the home-based Black Stars team was part of the traveling party that left Accra Wednesday night.

The team will make a transit in Amsterdam where they are expected to be joined by a host of European-based players for the trip to Washington.

Ghana coach Avram Grant is already in Washington awaiting the arrival of his team to begin preparations for the friendly against Canada which will be played on October 13.

The Ghana FA is yet to release the squad for the international friendly due to numerous pullouts by players.

Andre Ayew is to captain the side in the absence of the already injured Asamoah Gyan was only on Wednesday ruled out due to injury, so is Christian Atsu and Rabiu Mohammed.

The Black Stars will be using the friendly to prepare for their opening 2018 World Cup qualifier against either Lesotho or Comoros in November.
