Local Black Stars seek to improve after friendly defeat

Ghana's home-based national team assistant coach Nurudeen Amadu claims his side must improve after being exposed after last Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Kenyan Premier League side Gor Mahia.

Amadu believes the defeat exposed weakness in the team ahead of the CHAN campaign in Sudan where the local Black Stars play South Africa, Zimbabwe and Niger in Group B.

The Wa All Stars assistant knows some remedial amount of work must be done before the tournament kick-starts on Friday 4 February.

"I have realised we have to improve our game if we are beat host South Africa in our first CHAN match. I Gor for exposing our weaknesses that we need to cover up before we go for the continental event," said coach Amadu.

The local Black Stars were without five players and head coach Herbert Addo who flew from Nairobi to join Aduana Stars for their Caf Champions League qualifier against Wydad Casablanca in Morocco.

Ghana will leave Nairobi for Sudan on Tuesday.
