Lorient FC director general Arnaud Tanguy believes new signing Jordan Ayew boost the club’s stock in the French Ligue 1 next season.

Ayew completed his move from Olympique Marseille on Monday and signed a four-year deal.

The Ghana international was recruited by Les Merlus to replace experienced striker Jérémie Aliadière who left at the end of last season.

He scored five goals in 17 Ligue 1 appearances for Sochaux on a six-month loan deal.

"We're very pleased with his arrival," Tanguy said.

"It's a bet on our future, a signing that proves the club's desire to continue its progression. Jordan comes to Lorient to undertake a new sporting challenge and to put his talent at the disposal of FCL so that, together, we can use our ambition to take things to the next level."

Lorient kick off their Ligue 1 season away to Monaco on 10 August .
