Louis van Gaal's Manchester United future is reportedly secure, provided he can steer the Red Devils to a top four finish in the Premier League this season.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that van Gaal is confident he will keep his job at Old Trafford if he can guide United to a Champions League place, despite speculation former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is set to replace him.

United currently sit in fifth place on the Premier League ladder, six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.

It is understood van Gaal has a strong relationship with United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward who remains committed to keeping the 64-year-old as manager in the immediate future.
