Norway-based striker Mahatma Otoo believes the appointment of Avram Grant as Black Stars head coach will give fringe players an opportunity to stake a claim for a national team.

The Ghana Football Association is poised to name the former Chelsea coach as the replacement for Kwesi Appiah who was sacked last September.

Otoo had an impressive campaign for his relegated Norwegian top-flight Sogndal where he scored nine goals in 27 years.

But the 22-year-old was overlooked by previous national team coaches and the former Hearts of Oak is counting on the new head coach for an opportunity.

“When I first moved to Norway I had challenges with weather and the environment but now I am used to it and it is telling in my performance,” Otoo said.

“We all want to play for the national team but it is not all of us who can play at the same time.

“More so every Coach has his set of players, and now that a new Coach is coming it gives some us hope that we can get the opportunity to show case our talent.”
