Maiden call-ups for Duncan, Mohammed for Cape Verde friendly, key players left out

Published on: 05 November 2012

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has named two debutantes and several non-regular members for this month's friendly against Cape Verde.

Inter Milan midfielder Joseph Duncan and Awal Mohammed of Maritzburg United have been handed their debut Black Stars call-ups for next week's game in Lisbon.

Several players who have recently not had the chance of playing for the Black Stars have been recalled for the game with Derek Boateng and Samuel Inkoom returning to the fold.

Holland-based Nana Kwasi Asare has also been recalled to the team as well as Kissi Boateng of Berekum Chelsea, Albert Adomah and Richmond Boakye Yiadom.

Several players who look to be firm favourites for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations have been excluded as goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey, John Boye and Isaac Vorsah are all not part of the team.

Also left out are Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Kwadwo Asamoah and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu as the coach gives the opportunity to other players on the fringes of the squad to impress before the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations warm-up match will be played at the University of Lisbon Sports Stadium on 13 November.
