Lorient manager Sylvain Ripoll substituted Ghana Majeed Waris during the Oranges' 1-1 draw with Montpellier as a precautionary to avoid the striker suffering a fresh injury.

Ripoll withdrew the 24-year-old in first-half stoppage-time, replacing him with Algerian Walid Mesloub at the Stade Yves Allainmat - Le Moustoir.

The former Trabzonspor striker was required to use a lot more energy to cut the burden on Lorient when they were reduced to ten men after Francois Bellugou had been sent off in the 37th minute.

Waris had recently returned from a three-week injury lay off and Ripoll took the measure to help the striker rest for Lorient's next game.

He has scored 4 league goals for Lorient in the current campaign.
