Black Stars striker Abdul Majeed Waris says he is delighted his touch in front of goal has returned, after scoring for the first time for Lorient and set up a goal in their 3-1 thrashing of Ligue 1 newcomers Angers on Saturday. 

The 23-year-old's 73rd minute strike was his first goal for Sylvain Ripoll side to mark his return from injury. His influential performance saw him drop deep into midfield to provide an assist for Yann Jouffre in the 46th minute as Lorient recorded their debut win of the season.

"It is always good to have the three points from a game and scoring was also great because that was what we needed from the game," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Waris' last goal in the French top-flight came two seasons ago against Bastia in November 2014 during his loan spell at Valenciennes - a club now relegated to the French second-tier league.

Lorient acquired him from Turkish side Trabzonspor as a replacement for Jordan Ayew who was scooped up by English Premier League side Aston Villa.

Waris won the Swedish Premier League golden shop award in 2012 after netting 23 goals for BK Hacken and is hoping improve his scoring numbers who failing to score a league goal at Trabzonspor in 18 league games.
