Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris returned from injury to score his first Ligue 1 goal of the season and inspired Lorient to a 3-1 victory with an assist.

The 23-year-old had assisted Yann Jouffre to cancel out a Romain Saiss first-half lead for the host before he marked his return from injury with his first goal of the season.

Lorient were without victory in the opening four games of the season after drawing and losing two apiece and were inspired by the return of the Black Stars forward who is renowned for scoring goals in the French top-flight.

But home fans at the Stade du Moustoir enjoyed a torrid first 45 minutes after Saiss fired them down in the 33rd minute after punishing Lorient for their defensive blunder and Angers dominance put Lorient on underdog status.

But Waris from the break to steer Lorient as he set up Jouffre to level the scoring; dropping deep to pick out a loose pass and finding Jouffre who finished from a tight angle.

The former Trabzonspor player then expressed himself further with a big statement; starting an attack from the center and liaising well with Jouffre who he returned his pass and he forced home a fierce low drive to crown his return from an fracture injury.
