Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Banahene inspired Sanliurfaspor to a vital 2-0 away victory over Ankaraspor in the Turkish second-tier league on Saturday.

The tie at the Yenikent ASAI Stadyumu was a must-win for Ankaraspor as they are still in contention for a play-off spot but for Banahene's Sanliurfaspor, there was nothing more than dignity at stake as they are not among the favourites for promotion.

But the visitors stunned the hosts when Banahene intercepted a pass in the middle and laced with Nigerian Simon Zenke whose return ball found the former Berekum Chelsea man unmarked inside the box.

The 25-year-old made no mistake in slotting the ball past the on-rushing Ankaraspor keeper to register his 8th league goal this season.

Ankaraspor had many goal attempt denied by the visitors keeper and in second-half stoppage-time substitute Attila Yildirim cemented the victory for Sanliurfaspor.

Banahene's goal ratio in Turkey this season has been on the decline comparable to last season due to injury problems.
