Jose Gonzalez is in line to be the next boss of Malaga.
Malaga have reached an agreement for Jose Gonzalez to lead the first team after Michel was sacked as head coach on Saturday.
Michel, the 54-year-old former Spain midfielder, has paid the price after the Andalusian club lost 1-0 at Getafe on Friday night -- their fourth straight loss in LaLiga.
Malaga have lost every game since early December. They have 11 points from 19 league matches.
Gonzalez, who was most recently in charge of Beijing Guoan in China, has not yet signed a contract at La Rosaleda but Malaga announced on Saturday night that terms had been agreed.
A statement published on the club's website read: "Jose Gonzalez will be in charge of the first team when they return for training next week. In that way, he will have the whole second half of the season in which to mix things up."
Malaga also hailed Gonzalez for his exploits at Granada, where in the 2015-16 campaign he arrived with 13 games remaining to save the club from relegation.
Michel, meanwhile, had arrived last term and helped lift Malaga, who were seconds away from reaching the Champions League semifinals five years ago, to a midtable position.
A statement released on Saturday morning said: "We thank Michel for his professionalism and wish him every success for the future."
