Mallam Yahaya will take temporal charge of King Faisal following the dismissal of head coach Stephen Abugri.

The Kumasi-based club sacked the tough-talking coach on Monday after he showed gross insubordination towards  club owner Alhaji Karim Grunzah in the wake of their 1-0 defeat at home to Ebusua Dwarfs.

Yahaya, who is a former Ghana international, has been promoted to take charge of the team in their subsequent matches pending the appointment of a substantive coach.

“Mallam Yahaya has been appointed as the interim-coach of King Faisal,” PRO Sakyi Akomeah Boateng said

“He will supervise the team’s training and will take full charge of the side in the Premier League until he is confirmed or a substantive coach is appointed.

Abugri became the second coaching casualty in the six-week old Ghana Premier League after CK Akunnor was sacked by Hearts last week.

He guided Faisal back to the top flight after going 11 matches unbeaten in the lower division.
