Man City's 14 game winning streak

Published on: 11 December 2017

Manchester City's 2-1 victory in the Manchester derby saw them equal Arsenal's record of most successive victories in the Premier League.

The Gunners set the record between Feb. 10 and Aug. 24, 2002, across two campaigns, while City are the first team to have that winning run in a single season.

Pep Guardiola's side can set a new record with a win away to 19th-placed Swansea City on Wednesday night -- at the Liberty Stadium where they have won on half of their six visits in the Premier League. Here's a look back at City's incredible winning streak.

Bournemouth (A) 2-1, Aug. 26

After falling behind to Charlie Daniels' wonder strike, Gabriel Jesus hit back but City had to wait until the 97th minute for Raheem Sterling's scrambled winner that prompted delirious celebrations and earned the England international a second yellow card.

Liverpool (H) 5-0, Sept. 9

Sergio Aguero had already put City ahead in an end-to-end first half when Liverpool striker Sadio Mane was sent off for a high challenge on goalkeeper Ederson. City were ruthless against Liverpool's 10 men, taking them apart in an emphatic second-half display.

Watford (A) 6-0, Sept. 16

Aguero hit a brilliant hat trick in a devastating display that saw a hopeful Watford side suffer their first defeat of the season.

Crystal Palace (H) 5-0, Sept. 23

The Eagles were bottom of the table without a point or even a goal from their first five games so it was no surprise that they were comfortably swept aside at the Etihad Stadium.

Chelsea (A) 1-0, Sept. 30

City made a major statement about their Premier League aspirations as they dominated at the home of the champions and won the game thanks to a brilliant strike from Kevin De Bruyne midway through the second half.

Stoke City (H) 7-2, Oct. 14

Guardiola described the performance as the best in his time at City as De Bruyne put on a passing masterclass in a brutal dismantling of the Potters.

Burnley (H) 3-0, Oct. 21

Aguero equalled City's all-time goal scoring record with a first-half penalty but Burnley made it an awkward afternoon until late goals from Nicolas Otamendi and Leroy Sane made it a more flattering scoreline.

West Brom (A) 3-2, Oct. 28

City dominated possession and should have won far more comfortably but were wasteful in front of goal. However, they kept the run going with goals from Sane, Fernandinho and Sterling.

Arsenal (H) 3-1, Nov. 5

Arsene Wenger was upset with two of City's goals -- claiming that Sterling dived for a penalty and that there was an offside in the build-up to Gabriel's third -- but Arsenal were largely second best on the day.

Leicester City (A) 2-0, Nov. 18

Guardiola returned to the scene of his worst defeat in his first season as City manager and this time his players got it right with a performance of precision and speed with goals from Gabriel and De Bruyne.

Huddersfield Town (A) 2-1, Nov. 26

The newly-promoted side made it as hard as anyone for City to keep their run going and they took a shock lead with an Otamendi own goal. But City stayed patient and snatched an 84th minute winner that bounced in off Sterling.

Southampton (H) 2-1, Nov. 29

Sterling struck another brilliant late winner -- this time in the 96th minute with a stunning 20-yard curler that prompted wild celebrations and dealt a cruel blow to the stubborn Saints.

West Ham (H) 2-1, Dec 3

City left it late again as West Ham surprisingly caused them plenty of problems and took a shock lead through Angel Ogbonna. But the Hammers were pushed back and City finally found a way through with goals from Otamendi and then Silva in the 83rd minute.

Manchester United (A) 2-1, Dec 10

City's biggest test against their bitter rivals and closest opponents in the table. They again controlled the possession, although Silva and Otamendi both scored from set-pieces. Ederson made a brilliant double save to secure the win while Jose Mourinho bemoaned a yellow card to Ander Herrera for diving, which he claimed should have been a penalty.
