According to an exclusive report from Daily Mail Manchester United paid former Chelsea boss José Mourinho £4m since he's been sacked by the Blues one week before Christmas to stop him joining any other team.

The British newspaper claims that an agreement between the Red Devils and him was reached right after Mourinho's departure from Stamford Bridge; United also asked to the Portuguese coach to be available if required.

SportsMail also report that Mourinho refused to accept a 'behavioural clause' in his five-year, £75m deal despite concerns among the United hierarchy over his eccentric touchline behaviour.

The ex Chelsea manager was promised also a £200m to spend on the next transfer market but before taking charge at Old Trafford the Red Devils' director have to part ways with current boss Louis Van Gaal, that was Jose's mentor at their time together at FC Barcelona in the late 90's.
