Man Utd boss Mourinho: I know Karanka\'s traitors!

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says sacked manager Aitor Karanka was stabbed in the back by Middlesbrough's players.

Karanka, who was Mourinho's No 2 at Real Madrid, was sacked by Middlesbrough yesterday amid suggestions of a players revolt.

Mourinho looked at Boro's record over his three years at the club and gave a sarcastic reaction to Karanka's departure, adding: “I think he deserves to be sacked. In the first year he arrived, the team was going into League One and he saved the team.

“In the second year, he took the team to the play-off final at Wembley.

“In the third year he had direct promotion.

“So I think in the fourth year, he deserved to be sacked!"

Asked if it was similar scenario to Claudio Ranieri's dismissal at Leicester Mourinho replied: “In this case, I know the names!"
