Manchester United are eyeing Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.
Yahoo Sport says centre-back Alderweireld, also 28, would provide added steel to United's backline, and the kind of passing ability they have missed in central defence since the departure of Rio Ferdinand.
United boss Jose Mourinho has already confirmed that he is compiling a list of transfer targets for the summer.
At the end of January, he said: “We are more focused on the summer period.
“If you ask me 'do I know what I want for the next transfer window?' yes I know. Is it possible to get? I'll try, always, to be realistic."
