Man Utd to splash £8m for Kwadwo Asamoah

Manchester United are being linked with a move for Udinese midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah.

The Ghanaian international has been linked with a Barclays Premier League move in the past, with clubs several English clubs thought to be keen on the 22-year-old.

However, reports in Gazzetta dello Sport claim the Red Devils have stepped-up their interest, with Sir Alex Ferguson sending Manchester United scouts to watch the player against Fiorentina last weekend.

It's thought that the Zebrete value the player in the region of £8 million, a fee which Manchester United would easily be able to meet should the Scot decide that Asamoah fits the football philosophy at the club.

Ferguson was heavily linked with moves for an attacking midfielder in the summer, with Wesley Sneijder, Mario Gotze and Shinji Kagawa all placed on the Manchester United radar.

The emergence of Tom Cleverley has softened the blow of Paul Scholes' retirement though, and whilst box-to-box midfielder Asamoah doesn't fit the creative bill, he would certainly provide benefits to Manchester United if they move in the New Year.
