Manchester United – fans protest high Europa League ticket prices

Published on: 17 February 2016

ESPN reports that Manchester United fans are protesting the £71 pricetage for United’s away game in the Europa League against Danish side Midtjylland, saying it’s unfair they are charged so much – arguing when Southampton palyed Midtjylland earlier in the year tickets were £22. Banners have been prepared by some of the 800 fans attending the game at the 11,800-capacity MCH Arena. Andy Mitten, author and editor of United fan magazine United We Stand stated:

"£71 to watch a Europa League game is extortionate,''

"The combined cost of all three tickets for Manchester United's Champions League away games was only £75.

"Do they think United fans are three times wealthier than Southampton fans? Midtjylland are ripping fans off -- their own and the 800 travelling fans."

United complained to UEFA on the matter when the prices were announced, but there was no reduction.
