Mancini: Inter can still finish third

Inter coach Roberto Mancini believes that is not unrealistic to believe that his side can still finish third and qualify for the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri will face Bologna on Saturday evening and the Inter coach admitted that he is fond of his team’s opponents.

“I am a Bologna fan and they deserve to return to the top, [Roberto] Donandoni is doing a fantastic job,” said Mancini to reporters.

“He is a great coach and they could create problems for us tomorrow. They have found peace of mind and they have a lot of interesting and young players.

“Donadoni has given young players with great futures ahead of them a chance. They close space down well and they are hard to score against.”

The Inter boss also insisted that the formation is not the most important thing in determining how well his team performs.

“The formation doesn’t count, it’s the team’s attitude that matters,” Mancini went on.

“Now we have all of our players back and there are no problems.

“You can have a thousand different systems but you have to cover the pitch well. You can win with many different tactics, Juventus have been winning with a 3-5-2 for years.

“We don’t need to pray to finish third, prayers can be left for more important things. We can still finish third without praying.”
