Mancini: Inter must improve set pieces

Inter coach Roberto Mancini was pleased with his team’s comeback against Hellas Verona, but is adamant that they need to work on defending on set pieces.

The Nerazzurri played out a 3-3 draw with Verona on Sunday afternoon and all three goals they conceded came from a Luca Marrone set piece leading to a header, with them going behind 3-1 despite initially taking the lead.

“We started well but then we suffered from their comeback,” Mancini told Premium Sport after the game. “Although we dealt with it extremely well and were able make amends.

“We had chances to create more goals but we were totally careless on set pieces.”

Filip Helander, Eros Pisano and Artur Ionita all scored for the Gialloblu to help claim a point, and Mancini was not pleased that his team let in so many goals in one game and doesn’t want them to let in three again in the future.

“I am disappointed that we conceded three goals, we cannot do this again,” he concluded.

Inter now sit fourth in the Serie A table and missed out on the opportunity to leapfrog Fiorentina, while Verona are still rock bottom by four points.
