Manolo Marquez will now work with youth players at Las Palmas.

Manolo Marquez has resigned as coach of Las Palmas less than three months after taking charge, the Liga club announced on Tuesday.

Sunday's 2-0 defeat at home to Leganes followed a 1-0 loss at Sevilla and left Las Palmas in 15th place with six points from six games.

A club statement said: "Manolo Marquez presented his resignation as coach of Las Palmas.

"Marquez will continue to be linked to the club, with new responsibilities in the youth and recruitment departments.

"Juan Carlos Valeron and Paquito Ortiz will continue in charge of the first team until the club announces the arrival of the new coach."

Marquez had been given the reins in July as replacement for Quique Setien after helping Las Palmas Atletico win promotion to Segunda Division B last season.

Las Palmas, who have lost four league games and won two, travel to league leaders Barcelona on Sunday.
