Striker Stephen Manu has blamed New Edubiase’s unimpressive win over Diables Noirs to poor team motivation.
The debutants could only manage a slim 1-0 win over the Congolese side in the first leg of the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday.
The Berkwai-based club failed to build upon the 10th minute opener by Alhassan Nuhu despite their total dominance at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Manu who squandered several chances now says the team was ill-prepared for the game.
“We didn’t get enough preparation that is why things didn’t go our way as we wanted,†he told Kumasi-based Fox FM.
“The motivation ahead of this match was also very low. In football, motivation really counts but the one we got was woefully inadequate.
“We got just two weeks to prepare for the gaame so things weren’t the best to start with.
“This is my second campaign in Africa and things here are very different.â€
Edubiase are now in real danger of getting knocked out very early in the competition with an unhealthy one goal cushion to defend going into the second leg in a fortnight.
