Olympique Marseille have sent two medical experts to be with Andre Ayew throughout his rehabilitation while on holidays in Ghana.

The French club had one of their team doctors and a physiotherapist travel to Accra to assist the Ghana international as he makes steady progress on his return from injury.

The 24-year-old had surgery to fix a knee injury sustained last November while in action for the Black Stars in the World Cup playoff against Egypt.

Marseille expect Ayew’s return in late January or early February and are not taking any risks over his strict rehabilitation schedule.

They want to make sure the player also does not deviate from his schedule - hence their presence in the country.

The son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele is accessed every day by the doctor and also taking through some physical drills by the assigned physio.

The team are expected to return back with Andre Ayew sometime next week to continue with his training towards making a full recovery from his latest injury.

Marseille’s move shows clearly how well players are looked after by top European clubs.

Ayew is a key player for the French giants and is greatly needed to help the side’s push for a favourable finish in the second half of the season.
