Marseille refuse to release Ayews for Ghana friendly

Posted On Sunday, 12th August 2012

Andre and Jordan at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations

Marseille have turned down the Ghana Football Association’s request to use Andre and Jordan Ayew for Wednesday’s friendly against China.

The match is not a FIFA approved date for African countries so the Ghana FA cannot insist on their release.

The French Ligue 1 side outfit fear the brothers will suffer from jet lag before their next league match.

The duo were in action in midweek in the Europa League against Eskiehirspor.

Andre grabbed a double in that match in which they won 3-0 at the Stade Velodrome in the third qualifying round return leg tie.

Marseille begin their Ligue 1 campaign against Reims on Sunday.

Wht kind of nonsense is this? Of course is the match which is going to be played on Wednesday an FIFA approved date in the whole world. So pls check ur facts or reasons right, cos marseille can’t just turn down the request of the GFA. for not allowing the Ayews to go play for their motherland!!!

  2. Samspanky says:

They can keep them but they shouldnt write to us and beg for the duo to stay and player 1 or two games for them when fifa time comes

  3. Edward says:

Pls Essien should not be called back into the team. He lack sense of patrotism, all players stand the the chance of injury when playing for their natonal teams but they still sacrifies and play. Calling Essien leaves a bad legacy for young players to follow when they become stars.

    • mukmin says:

We need Essien and they should recall him if we qualify for world cup, we will need him. He was a major factor in US qualifying for last world cup and it was unfortunate for him to get injured and miss out. The coaches should show him some love and recall him when he’s ready to play. I think he deserves a pass.

      • redd says:

My friend,we are not running a charity organization here.Essien will only be called if his form improves.Helping us qualify sometime ago means nothing. What about Laryea who never got to play in the WC after helping us against his club’s wishes.Give young players a chance.

        • KWAME NAAGBEWA says:

WHY ARE WE TALKING BAD OF ESSIEN WHEN IT WAS AKWASI APPIAH WHO HAVE NOT CALLED HIM FOR THIS GAME? HUH?

DID AKWASI APPIAH CALL ESSIEN FOR THIS GAME AND HE REFUSED? Someone should answer me.

  4. nana says:

who says essien might be called.

  5. zambians are pigs says:

Nyantakyi and his cohorts before the afcon took bribes from marseille allowing them to use the Ayews for their matches before reporting to duty. The explanation the GFA gave was that they have a good relationship with marseille.
    Good relationship indeed.
    Where is the return favour.
When the black Stars went to perform abysmally ,it is Plavi who paid the price.
l will not be surprised if the GFA allow marseille to keep the Ayews again in the future. They care about their pockets.
Regards Essien, what is actually going on?

  6. charles says:

Guys, Essian must do something about his future now. I mean how could he sit at the bench of chelsea and looking soo sorrowful when the coach decides to use Mikel instead. Mikel is no good than essien but the coach prefers to use him to essien. It’s simple fact that that guy doesn’t like him and so essien must get the courage to move on to another team. He’s so timid and lacks self confidence when it comes down to decision making regarding his club career. I don’t understand at all how essien behaves at chelsea. I mean is chelsea the only club? Why is he demeaning his potential and killing his career gradually by refusing to leave chelsea. People should please excuse my language but it hurts me soo much to see my darling boy sitting foolishly at the bench the likes of lazy players like Mikel play because the coach seem to like him. Essien………I’m screaming, my friend if you can hear me please I’m advising you to peacefully move on to save your career now. Your chelsea heaven is not attractive anymore. It looks so ordinary and I urge u to gather the courage like drogba, kalou, bosingwa, et al to move on. A word to the wise is enough my brother. Good luck.
