Marseille refuse to release Ayews for Ghana friendly

Published on: 12 August 2012

Marseille have turned down the Ghana Football Association's request to use Andre and Jordan Ayew for Wednesday’s friendly against China.

The match is not a FIFA approved date for African countries so the Ghana FA cannot insist on their release.

The French Ligue 1 side outfit fear the brothers will suffer from jet lag before their next league match.

The duo were in action in midweek in the Europa League against Eskiehirspor.

Andre grabbed a double in that match in which they won 3-0 at the Stade Velodrome in the third qualifying round return leg tie.

Marseille begin their Ligue 1 campaign against Reims on Sunday.
