Ghana international Andre Ayew is hoping to replicate his father's heroics when he helped French giants Marseille to win the 1993 Champions League.

Ayew says his father's exceptional role which helped Marseille to win the Uefa champions league two decades ago continues to be on his mind as he dreams of a similar feat.

Abedi Ayew Pele played an enigmatic role in leading Marseille to win the Champions League in 1993 at the expense of AC Milan.

Now with Andre playing for Marseille and being one of the club's key players, the 23-year-old wants to emulate his dad.

"I was very young; I was above three years but my father has narrated the event to me and this has stuck in my memory,” Andre told Marseille's official website.

"He also talked a lot about the 1991 final and this shows that the OM is a historical and legendary club,” he added.

Today, May 26 is exactly two decades since Olympique Marseille achieved that success.

Abedi Pele’s cross was headed into the net by Basile Boli with just two minutes left to the end of the first half and it proved to be the match winner.
