OM are planning replacements for Ayew brothers are Nations Cup nears

French giants Marseille will recruit players to replace their Ghanaian players Andre and Jordan Ayew during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The duo, who are key players for Marseille, are expected to be part of the Black Stars squad for the tournament to be held in South Africa in January and February.

Their absence will be a blow to the title chances of Marseille, prompting the French league leaders to ponder getting replacements for the brothers, a French newspaper has reported.

This is good news for Ghana, less for Olympique de Marseille, Andre and Jordan Ayew will be absent in January and February 2013, the country is qualified for the next edition of the African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

According Le Provence, Marseille are intending to recruit a player at the beginning of winter transfer window to compensate for the absence of the two players.

The technical staff will hold a meeting with Marseille president Vincent Labrune to discuss with him the plans as the clubs cannot splurge in the transfer market.

Several players are being observed includsing an African whose country has not qualified for the Cup of Nations, the report stated.

This is the reason why it’s harder for African footballer to reach the top in European football.
Why? Because they leave their club in the middle of the season for the CAN. When they come back, they find their places occupied and they have to fight themselves back into the line-up. Don’t get me wrong. Drogba made it. Eto’o made it. Yaya made it.
But the time the CANs are held is negatively impacting African players. This is especially true for goalkeepers. Goalkeepers are usually not substituted. So when the goalkeeper leaves his club in the middle of the season, he’ll just slip down the pecking order. This is why there ae no great African goalkeepers in Europe.
In conclusion, please CAF change the system!

Marseille should be planning on replacing only one Ayew brother during the AFCON 2013 not both. There is only room for one Ayew brother on the Black Stars. The really good talented one!
