WAFA SC will welcome premier league newbies Karela United FC to the Sogakope park on Wednesday seeking to continue their recent pulsating form to close in on the top four.

The Academy Boys have gone six straight matches without a defeat which sees them sit 7th on the league log.

They have won three and drawn three in the process.

Overcoming the premiership debutants in the midweek means the Team Young will move to the 3rd place on the league table.

On the weekend, WAFA SC made a progression to the next round of the FA Cup after beating lower division side Likpe Heroes 5-3 on penalties at the Kpando park.

New recruitments Timothee Koffi Koudo and George Asamoah were handed their first starts in the game.

They could be making their home debuts if selected by the coach for Wednesday's fixture.

First choice goalie Richmond Ayi returns from suspension to be between the sticks for midweek's encounter.

New head coach Patrick Liewig is awaiting his working permit to be able to be on the dugout for the first time since he joined.

Karela United FC have targeted a top four finish at the end of the first half of the season which requires at least a draw from their visit to Sogakope on Wednesday.

It is their first ever journey to the Volta region for a premiership clash.

In the FA Cup in 2016, the newcomers suffered a 1-0 loss to the Academy Lads at the same venue to bow out of the competition in the round of 64.

The Pride and Passion let it very late in their last league fixture to claim all three points against champions Aduana Stars at home last week.

They followed it with 4-2 penalty shootouts win against second tier side FC Samartex 1996 to qualify to the next round of the FA Cup last weekend.

Number one Isaac Hagan will be returning to man the posts on Wednesday against WAFA SC. He was given a rest in last Sunday's cup match.

Right and left back Isaac Kwain and Imoro Ibrahim respectively are coming back into the squad to face the rejuvenated Academy Boys.

Key midfielder Sadiq Alhassan will also be welcomed back for the trip to the Volta region. He did not feature in the FA Cup on the weekend.
