Asante Kotoko moved to third on the Ghana Premier League table following a crucial 1-0 win over Inter Allies on Sunday.

The Porcupines were made to dig deep as they claimed their fifth successive victory in all competitions at the Baba Yara stadium.

Local Black Stars defender Amos Frimpong penalty goal was enough to win Kotoko maximum points and plunge Inter Allies to last but one.

Kotoko dominated the first half but failed to make the most of the good number of opportunities that came their way.

Theophilus Nyame header from a brilliant cross strike the side post to the relief of Inter Allies.

Kotoko continued their dominance in the second half and were rewarded with a goal in the 69th minute.

Referee Cecil Fletcher awarded Kotoko a penalty after substitute Elvis Amoh was brought down in the box.

Captain Amos Frimpong made no mistake from the spot as he converted convincingly to hand Kotoko the lead.

Inter Allies were reduced to ten men. Striker Sulley Mohammed was sent off after picking a second booking for time wasting.

Though a man down Inter Allies gave a good account of themselves. They created a couple of decent chances only to be denied by experience goalkeeper Ernest Sowah in goal for Kotoko.

Inter Allies goalkeeper Osei Kwame also made some brilliant saves, including a wonderful volley by Halipha Sedogo destined for goal, to prevent Kotoko from finishing the game with two or more goals.
