Match Report: Ashantigold 1-1 Medeama - Torpid Mauves frustrate miners to pile pressure on CK Akunnor

Medeama held bottom club Ashantigold to a pulsating 1-1 draw in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday to heap pressure on coach CK Akunnor.

Striker Bernard Ofori tapped in from close range to give the visitors a well deserved lead before Prince Owusu restored parity in the first half.

Bismark Oppong, Kwesi Donsu and Amos Korankye missed targets as the Mauve and Yellows nearly paid heavily few minutes into regulation time as the miners came close to score the match-winner.

Both sides will complain they should have earned a penalty as star referee Daniel Laryea waved on the appeals.

The draw has left the miners gasping for breath as they lie firmly rooted at the bottom of the table with just 9 points from 13 games.

Recently appointed coach CK Akunnor will begin to feel the heat as pressure continue to mount.

The Miners have endured a difficult run in the premier league following their five-match winless run in the Ghana Premier League, including one in the MTN FA Cup which they lost 3-1 in the penalty shootout to second-tier side Asokwa Deportivo over the weekend.
