Match Report: Bechem United 2-1 Berekum Chelsea- Noah Martey inspires troubled Hunters

Published on: 25 July 2015

Struggling Bechem United received some respite with a 2-1 win over a weakened Berekum Chelsea side on Friday.

Midfielder Noah Martey returned from a two-month injury layoff and made his presence felt with some slick and incisive passes.

At some point, his touches were as if he had a big velvet cushion around his right foot.

On 10 minutes, Martey split a pass- which was well-tailored one- to the right and it located Yaw Arnorld who cut and slipped in a pass.

It found Martey inside the box and the club’s leading scorer connected in at the near post to register his season’s ninth goal.

In the 21st Arnold could have doubled the lead but when he was put through clear on goal, the right winger shockingly skied his effort.

But he made amends in added on time when he received a well-dinged pass from his captain Issa Adamu and this time he was clinical.

Arnold set him up with a lovely ball control before firing into theroof for the second goal and what happened to be the last action to end the first half.

Berekum Chelsea still looked ordinary but were not out-played by their hosts who needed a win badly.

So Kofi Owusu took advantage of an unconvincing clearance inside the box and he shot from close range to reduce the deficit.

At the closing stages it was Bechem United who came close with some scoring opportunities but could not converted them.
