Match Report: Ebusua Dwarfs 4-1 Asante Kotoko - Porcupines capitulate as Dwarfs run riot

Published on: 20 July 2016

Asante Kotoko slumped to a 4-1 demolition at the hands of Ebusua Dwarfs at the Robert Mensah stadium in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.

Bright Lukman Christopher Bonney and Nicholas Gyan scored as Kotoko were blown away by an Ebusua Dwarfs side who still have hopes of escaping relegation.

Asante kotoko were hoping to bounce back to winning ways after two straight ties saw them miss out on top spot of the league.

But an absolutely awful first half condemned the Porcupines to a defeat likely to dampen any hopes ahead of sunday's clash with bitter rivals Hearts of Oak.

Prosper Nartey's side started positively and it paid off as they found themselves three goals up in the opening 30 minutes.

Bright Lukman opened the scoring for Ebusua Dwarfs with a decent effort after a beautiful one-two play between himself and Nicholas Gyan.

Lukman doubled the lead four minutes later, connecting to a rebound after Ernest Sowah failed to make a first time save.

Former kotoko and now Dwarfs defender Christopher Bonney stepped up to convert a penalty to make it three nil before Eric Donkor was sent off much to the dismay of Kotoko fans present at the stadium.

Although a man down, Porcupines came into the second half with strong intent of salvaging their image as they made a host of incursions but Dwarfs stood tall.

And with the game drawing to a close, Nicholas Gyan strike Dwarfs' fourth after an unpardonable mistake. However captain Amos Frimpong led by example by grabbing a consolation for Kotoko.

Kotoko following the shocking  have dropped to 4th. For Dwarfs they have moved out of the relegation zone to the 11th position.
