Match Report: Great Olympics 2-1 Bechem United - Kwame Boateng's contentious late penalty gives hopes to Wonder Club

Published on: 19 July 2015

Veteran striker Godwin Attram inspired Accra Great Olympics to a memorable victory over Bechem United as they claimed a 2-1 verdict at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Attram raced the host into the lead with a beautiful patent finish in the 5th minute to send the 550 home fans present at the 40,000 capacity seater stadium into happy mood.

But a moment of brilliance inspired by former Lierse SK midfielder Cofie Bekoe saw midfielder Issah Adamu level the scoring for the visitors just a minute into the second department.

Late drama ensued when Olympics midfielder Francis Mantey was fouled inside the box and referee Ali Alhassan pointed to the spot.

Bechem players vehemently opposed the decision with goalkeeper Ransford Cudjoe threatening to boycott the game.

After the little demonstration staged by Bechem players came to an end, attacker Kwame Boateng stepped up and dispatched the ball into the net deep into stoppage-time.

The victory has enhanced Olympics survival chances as they have built their points to 25 points.
