Eric Donkor scored late to hand Asante Kotoko a vital 1-0 win away to Hasaacas in the penultimate Premier League fixture on Sunday.

The winger scored from open play minutes after missing a spot kick at the Essipong Stadium to ultimately ease the relegation woes of the dethroned champions.

Kotoko started the game second from the bottom with relegation starring in their faces.

The Porcupine Warriors needed to come away with at least a point to have any chances of survival.

And they looked to be on their way with towards even achieving better when they had the ball in the net after 36 minutes.

But the goals was disallowed leading to protest by the Kotoko players.

The dethroned league champions had suffered a similar situation exactly a week ago when they had a perfect goal disallowed in their FA Cup defeat to Medeama.

Calm was eventually restored for the game to continue.

Kotoko momentarily had their hearts in their mouths in the 78th minute when the referee whistle went after a tackle on a Hasaacas player in the penalty area.

But they were relieved the whistle was to signal only a goal kick and not a penalty against them.

Kotoko was handed a penalty kick of their own four minutes later which was shockingly missed by dead-ball expert Eric Donkor.

The winger however redeemed himself with a stunning finish two minutes from time to hand David Duncan’s side a precious away win from Sekondi.
