Benjamin Eshun's second half strike was enough for Liberty Professionals to defeat Karela United FC in Week 12 of the Ghana Premier League at the Carl Reinhorf Park on Sunday.

The Scientific Soccer lads began the match very determined to end their abysmal run of five winless run as they attacked Karela right from the blast of referee's whistle but failed to create any clear cut chance as the visitors defence proved impenetrable.

Karela FC defensive approach to the game frustrated the hosts and went to close to breaking the deadlock from typical counter attacking move but they fluffed their lines at the third half of the pitch as the match went to recess.

Liberty continued from where they left in the first half by attacking their opponents with pace on the flanks and nearly opened the scoring on two occasions but goalkeeper Nii Hammond Kalaala stood to the test by thwarting their efforts.

On the 52nd minute, Coach Reginald Asante was forced to replace his most trusted marshal on the field, Simon Zibo, who had suffered an injury early on the second stanza with Alex Ofori Acheampong

However, just two minutes after Zibo's substitution, Benjamin Eshun broke the virginity of the game with a fantastic strike on the edge of the area to hand the hosts the deserved lead.

Both side had chances in the final minutes to change the score line but failed as the hosts ended their five match winless run.

By virtue of the win, Liberty climb to 13th on the standings with 12 points while maintain their 5th position with 18 points.
