Match Report: Medeama 1-0 All Stars - Bature proves Mauves hero

Published on: 01 May 2016

Medeama recorded yet another victory at home in the Ghana Premier League at the expense of league leaders Wa All Stars.

Benjamin Bature stepped up to the plate to power Medeama to victory ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup clash with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The attacking midfielder picked his spot very well to plant home the only goal of the game.

The Tarkwa-based side had to sweat profusely for the win after All Stars put up a solid defensive display.

Swedish trainer Tom Strand was not on the bench to supervise Medeama's activities on the day after failing to train with the team for almost a week.

All Stars appeared out of sorts for most parts of the game and had goalie Richard Ofori to thank for keeping the scoreline respectable.

All Stars goalkeeper Richard Ofori justified his Black Stars call ups with a superb performance. He stood between Medeama and avalanche of goals after pulling several sensational saves.

The Mauves have struggled for form in the league despite excelling heavily on the continental front.

The result sees Medeama jump to ninth with All Stars holding on to top spot with 20 points.

The latter could lose the first position should Hearts win tomorrow against Kotoko.
