Match Report: Medeama 2-0 Bechem United- Strong first half performance by Mauves condemn Hunters to yet another away defeat

Published on: 15 April 2017

Medeama SC returned to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League when they defeated Bechem United 2-0 in week 12 at the Tarkwa T&A Park on Saturday.

The Mauves and Yellows failed to keep up with their win over Asante Kotoko on match day 10 as they suffered a 2-0 loss to Berekum Chelsea last Sunday.

But they improved their performance in the week 12 clash against Bechem United with a 2-0 victory at home.

Defender Paul Aidoo broke the deadlock of the encounter in the 30th minute when he converted a penalty kick after Bismark Oppong was brought down in the 18-yard box to give the home side the advantage.

The day belonged to the defenders of the home as right back Amos Korankye doubled his side's lead in the 42nd minute with a bullet shot just outside the box before referee Reginald Lathbridge brought the first half to a close.

The Hunters started the second half more hungrier as they went in search of the equalizer but they were pegged back by the impregnable Medeama defense marshalled by Paul Aidoo.

Bechem United attacker Joseph Amoah was shown a straight red card by referee Reginald Lathbridge in the 91st minute for dissent.

Medeama climb to 8th position with 14 points from 12 matches whiles Bechem United maintain their 7th spot with 17 points.
