Match Report: Techiman City FC 1-0 Aduana Stars - Stephen Manu atones for penalty miss with lone effort
Techiman City defeated Aduana Stars

Former Premier League poster-boy Stephen Manu announced his return to the Ghanaian top-flight by scoring a crucial lone strike to help Techiman City to a 1-0 win over Aduana Stars in the Ghana Premier League at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman on Sunday.

The 28-year-old forward crashed home the solitary goal of the game late in the first-half but missed from the spot.

City were presented with a huge opportunity to put themselves ahead but Stephen Manu who was playing his maiden game for the debutantes fired his effort into the crossbar.

But the former Asante Kotoko atoned for his penalty miss when he cruised the noisy City fans into a chanting mood when he rose above two Aduana defenders to plant a firm header into Stephen Adams' net.

Stephen Adams was restored to the post by Aduana coach Cioaba Aristica. The Romanian tactician who was named as replacement for the departed Nurudeen Ahmed made attempts to shift the Fire Club's campaign back on track.

The Fire Club were still chasing their first points of the season after losing both of their opening games.

However a buoyant City side dominated the game and created a host of chances as their guest were forced to play catch up.

In actual fact, City should have scored more but Baba Mahama who was the star-man in the Hasaacas reverse was kept at bay by the visitors defence.

Aduana, who are former winners of the Premier League title, are still without a point from their opening three games of the season.
