Match Report: WAFA SC 2-1 Berekum Chelsea - Martin Antwi leads the charges as exciting youngsters down title hopefuls
WAFA defeated Chelsea

West African Football Academy enhanced their chances of top-four finish at the expense of title hopefuls Berekum Chelsea after defeating them 2-1 at the WAFA Park in Sogakope in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Captain Martin Antwi met a Majeed Ashimeru's brilliant pass to fire John Killa's side ahead just before the half-hour mark before Ghana U20 star Samuel Tetteh artfully cushioned the lead for the hosts.

Kofi Owusu grabbed a consolation goal for the Blues in the 78th minute but Chelsea could not get on level terms before the games petered out.

The Blues went into the tie hoping for a better outcome following their 4-2 hammering by relegation-threatened Great Olympics in midweek.

But WAFA put quality football on show and consigned Solomon Ojo's men to a handsome defeat with a great knowhow of their own games.

After taking a comfortable lead, the youngsters turned the game into skillful showbiz as they mauled Chelsea players with disgraceful nutmeg applications.

Chelsea's late pressure earned them a consolation goal as Kofi Owusu halved the deficit with his 14th goal of the season.

The late threats forced John Killa to buttress his defence by introducing Kennedy Koranteng to replace Charles Boateng. Cato Iddrisu also came in for Majeed Ashimeru.
