Lazio forward Alessandro Matri admitted his frustration following the Biancocelesti’s 1-1 draw against Sampdoria in Serie A on Monday evening.
The 31-year-old former Juventus striker opened the scoring before Ervin Zukanovic levelled the score in the last minute for the visitors.
“Beyond my goal, the result is a big disappointment,” Matri told Mediaset Premium after the match.
“We dominated the game from start to finish, but unfortunately it was not meant to be. The performance was there, the victory was there for us, but it’s easy to say that in hindsight.
The Italy international revealed coach Stefano Pioli has the backing of the players despite the club’s poor form.
“Nobody has ever challenged Pioli, we will continue to play for him,” he added.
