Assistant coach of the Black Stars Maxwell Konadu has debunked media reports of his involvement in a consortium aimed at the sale of home-based players.
The former Ghana international has been accused of using his position as head coach of the CHAN team to promote players of an unnamed consortium for commercial purposes.
Konadu who has built a strong network with home-based players has also been accused of advising players against extending their contracts with their clubs when they near expiration in order for them to be sold outside the country on a free transfer for a commission.
But the former Wa All Stars coach has dismissed these reports, describing them as malicious attempts to discredit him.
“I just don’t understand these reports that I am part of a consortium to promote and sell players,” he said.
“That I influence decisions of players on whether to sign a new contract with their clubs or not. Am I that powerful?
“These stories are simply false and it is a shame that people will just conjure such reports to taint my reputation.”
Maxwell Konadu has been directly accused for engineering the sale of Kennedy Ashia and Abeiku Ainooson to Sudanese club Al Hilal.
He is even accused of plotting the sale of an unnamed AshantiGold player to TP Mazembe.
