KV Mechelen chairman, Johan Timmermans is refusing to comment whether the Belgian top-flight side are on the verge of signing the son of Ghana President John Mahama but confirms that they are about to seal deal with some Ghanaian players.
The 22-year-old, who just last year was a student in the Untied Arab Emirates, was reported to have signed the deal after training with the side since October, the sources told Ghanasoccernet.com.
However, Timmermans has only confirmed deals for just two Ghanaians who are Ampomah and Acquah.
“The transfers of Vitas, Ben Khalifa and Crepulja fully completed. In addition, we expect the Ghanaians Opoku Ampomah and Reuben Acquah. Their transfer is requested, but we are still waiting for the necessary paper-work to get them in Mechelen,” Johan Timmermans told KV Mechelen’s official website.
“Only if they succeed, then their transfer official. We will hire both players until the end of this season and have an option to purchase them later.”
The Mechelen President refused to confirm or speak on the possible captures of Mahama Sharaf and Hope Doagbodzi.
Sharaf Mahama played as a second half substitute in the game which was also played by Africa's top stars including Emmanuel Adebayor, Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew but did not have enough playing time to demonstrate his prowess.
He arrived in the country along with his compatriot Hope Doagbodzi who have been training with the side in their bid to grab a permanent deal.
It has not been confirmed from the Presidency whether the Sharaf Mahama is the same as the son of the Ghanaian leader but in Belgium is it news that the son of the leaders of the West African country has joined a club in their top-flight.
Sharaf Mahama is already popular with footballers in Ghana as he is close friends with Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Asamoah Gyan and Stephen Appiah.
He is a football and fitness addict who has joined his father in public fitness activities in recent times.
While studying in Dubai, he regularly attended matches of Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan when he was the star striker of Al Ain in the UAE top-flight league.
